  • Positive My 5day trek (rongai route) was with the travel company Exodus. Amazing views and wildlife...the local guides and porters were great and full of enthusiasm. January was a perfect time...not to hot...Because it was early in the season prices were low. Seeing the sun rise over the masai mara on one side and serengeti on the other a peak experience
  • Negative This isnt a dislike more of a caution....the first few days walk and acclimatization can lead you into a false sense of security about how tough the push to the summit will be...ITS TOUGH GOING....the lack of oxygen plays tricks with your mind and also leads to feeling much much colder than it is...also the lactic acid builds in the legs....But at the top, after 5mins rest, the effort is rewarded

  • 7-Days Kilimanjaro Trekking Adventure
  • Description

The seven day Machame variation is the ideal schedule for this route. On the 7 day Machame route, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for a short day just prior to the summit attempt. This is important because summit day begins very early, around midnight, so climbers are sleep deprived going into the toughest day on the mountain. By having a short day beforehand, climbers can be better rested.
