Long Trail - by Ellen The Long Trail in Vermont has a length of 265 miles (426 km). This backcountry trail runs from the Canadian border to the border of Massachusetts. It's for hiking only, and you will find mountains, forests and lakes. Apparently, the trail is even older than the Appalachian Trail. And it is very popular too.
